Reno Aces News Release

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.- Charles Brewer dealt a quality start in his 2013 debut, but the Aces fell 3-2 to the Sky Sox in a 15 inning affair Saturday afternoon at Security Service Field.

Brewer gave up only one earned run on five hits across six innings, with five strikeouts.

Colorado Springs got on the board early, off an RBI single from Nolan Arenado, but was unable to generate additional runs until the 15th inning. The Aces remained scoreless until the top of the seventh, when Brad Snyder made it home on a Tyler Kuhn groundout.

The teams remained tangled at one run apiece until a dramatic 15th inning that saw the Aces pull ahead 2-1 on an infield RBI single by reliever Garrett Mock.

The Sky Sox took advantage of Reno closer Evan Marshall, registering five singles and pushing across two runs in the bottom of the frame. Marshall was charged with a blown save and the loss.

Following Brewer's stellar performances, the Reno relief corps gave up only three hits through eight innings until Marshall entered the game.

Reliever Jeff Manship, who took the loss in the first game of the season on Thursday, earned the win for Colorado Springs. Manship gave up one earned run on three hits in an inning pitched.

The series wraps up Sunday afternoon at Security Service Field. LHP Tyler Skaggs (0-0, No ERA) gets the nod for Reno, while the Sky Sox will counter with LHP Nick Schmidt (0-0, No ERA). First pitch is set for 12:35 p.m. PT, and all the action can be heard live on Fox Sports 630 AM.
