Zephyrs Fall 6-0 in Nashville

NASHVILLE, Tennessee - Johnny Hellweg pitched five scoreless innings in his Triple-A debut limiting the Zephyrs to two hits as Nashville shutout the Zephyrs 6-0 in front of 5,997 fans at Greer Stadium in Nashville.

The Sounds offense jumped on Z's starter Jacob Turner early, scoring runs in each of the first three innings. Scooter Gennett led the game off with a double and scored on a Sean Halton RBI single in the first inning. Cole Garner led the second inning off with a solo home run to take a 2-0 lead. Nashville scored four runs on four hits in the third inning with Halton adding another RBI and Blake Davis picking up 2 RBI.

The Sounds pitching staff silenced the Zephyrs allowing four hits and dealt their first shutout of the season. Hellweg earned the win and Jacob Turner took the loss for the Zephyrs. Turner worked four innings allowed six runs, five earned on seven hits and walked one while striking out three.

The Z's Bryan Petersen picked up two hits to the lead the way for the Zephyrs.

The Sounds have won two of the first three games of the series.

Game Notes - The Zephyrs committed three errors in each of their two losses. Sounds starting pitchers have limited the Zephyrs to one run on seven hits in 15 innings pitched.
