Brockton, MAâ The Aces came from behind with three runs in the eighth inning to down the Rox, 9-8, Sunday night at Campanelli Stadium in front of 2,992.
The Aces jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning, but the Rox came back with five runs in the second. With Kris Zacuto on second and Francisco Matos on first, Craig Lewis, making his first appearance since breaking a bone in his ankle June 13, singled to center, scoring Zacuto. With the bases loaded after a walk to Mike Sandoval, Chad Stewart walked, scoring Matos. Saul Bustos then doubled to clear the bases, putting the Rox up, 5-2.
The Aces â the home team for this series â cut the lead by a run in their half of the second, but a third-inning solo home run by Matos gave the Rox a 6-3 lead.
The Aces came back again in the third with two runs, making the score 6-5.
The Rox got two more in the fourth as Jake Daubert and Mike Sandoval singled and scored on Bustos's double to center.
The Aces got a run in the sixth and three in the eighth to take the lead, 9-8.
Newcomer Chris Keelin started the game, going two-and-a-third innings, giving up five runs on two hits and seven walks, while striking out three. Kevin Lynn pitched four-and-a-third innings of relief, allowing a run on five hits and two walks, and striking out three. Tony Stutz, who came in to pitch the eighth, was charged with the loss, giving up three runs on a hit and two walks, while striking out two, dropping his record to 4-2.
Carlos Figueroa, who pitched two innings of relief, picked up the win for the Aces, while Angel Miranda recorded his third save.
Bustos (3-for-5) tied a team record with five RBI â most recently done Saturday by Brian Jones.
