
Spirit Bow to Jackals

Lynn, MA â Brad Whitworth (4-4) pitched seven innings of shutout ball Sunday afternoon as the New Jersey Jackals handed the North Shore Spirit their second straight loss, 6-3 at the New Fraser Field.
Whitworth scattered five hits, walked one and struckout six. Fabricio Benitez pitched the ninth for his 10th save of the year and second in as many days.
New Jersey roughed up Spirit starter Bryan Morse (7-3) for six runs on eights hits. Wilton Veras went 2-4, including a three-run homerun during a five-run fourth inning for the Jackals. John Anderson add a two-run shot, his second of the season.
North Shore got on the board in the eighth. Nelson Teilon singled with two outs and scored on a Vic Davilla double. Rob Fischer then deposited an Evan Neiser fastball over the wall in right center, cutting the Jackals lead to 6-3.
North Shore's second half record now stands at 9-4, good for third place in the North Division. New Jersey wins the weekend series three games to one. It marks the first time all season North Shore has lost a series at home.
Monday's game begins at 7:05 pm, gates open at 5:30 pm. Bring a recent church bulletin and receive half price admission.
