Evansville Otters News Release

, Crestwood, IL - The Otters found their bats in the ninth inning of Friday's game with the Windy City Thunderbolts, but it was too little too late as the ‘Bolts hung on for a 3-2 victory.

Windy City's Dustin Pease stymied Evansville for the first eight innings, allowing only five hits and no runs. Pease began the ninth leading 3-0 and looking for his fifth complete game. With one out, Frank Meade reached on an error by Thunderbolts second baseman Gilberto Mejia. After Travis McCleary flew out, Cameron Satterwhite tripled to left-centerfield to score Meade and put the Otters on the board. Luke Hetherington followed with an RBI single to cut the deficit to 3-2. Pease got the hook and was replaced by closer Nick Hall. Hetherington stole second to move himself into scoring position, but Tyler Diamond grounded out to short to end the game.

Windy City built the 3-0 lead with an unearned run in the second, an RBI single by Robert Perry in the third and an RBI fielder's choice in the fifth.

Pease (11-6) gave up only the two runs, both of which were unearned, in 8 2/3 innings. He walked only one and struck out nine.

The Otters' John Ducey was nearly as good. Ducey (3-10) allowed three runs (two earned) in eight innings while walking five and striking out five. He tossed his third complete game of the year, all of which have been losses.

The Otters (28-60) have lost seven straight and will look to break the skid Saturday at 7:05pm CDT.
