LOVES PARK, Ill. - The Rockford RiverHawks announced Friday that they have activated infielder Javy Brown from the 14-day disabled list and placed pitcher Michael Ryder on the suspended list.

Brown was placed on the DL, retroactive to Aug. 14, because of a collar-bone contusion. Brown was 3-for-19 in four games after the RiverHawks acquired him in a trade with Evansville. Brown was a Frontier League All-Star this season.

The RiverHawks acquired Ryder in a deadline-day deal from Chico of the independent Golden League in exchange for two players to be named later. On Aug. 21 at Florence, Ryder gave up four runs on seven hits and lost, 4-2. The rookie struck out seven and walked one in his only Frontier League appearance.

The RiverHawks are members of the Frontier League, a 12-team independent professional baseball league in its 17th season. Advertising and ticket information is available by calling (815) 885-2255. Fans can also visit the RiverHawks online at www.rockfordriverhawks.com. Most games are broadcast live on ESPN 1380, and on the team website.
