Corpus Christi IceRays News Release
Corpus Christi, Texas: December 15, 2003 â Corpus Christi Rayz forward Chris Page has been named the Nike/Bauer CHL Player of the Week, the Central Hockey League announced Monday afternoon. Page had three goals and two assists in two games played last week.
Page, who was signed as free agent two weeks ago after beginning this season in ECHL with the Toledo Storm, had an excellent weekend helping the Rayz win two critical inter-divisional matchups. The Rayz scored five goals this week and Page had a hand in all of them. Friday night, he scored two goals (one of them shorthanded) added an assist and scored on a shootout chance against the Austin Ice Bats as he was named the number one star of the game in a 4-3 shootout victory. On Saturday, he notched the game winning goal and an assist, and took home the number two star honors as the Rayz defeated the Laredo Bucks 2-0.
The native of Drummondville, Quebec has played in four games this season for Corpus Christi and has registered five points, all coming in this weekend's games. Page is in his rookie season after playing three years of college hockey at the University of Vermont and Concordia. In his four games with the Rayz, Page has equaled his point total with the Storm, with whom he spent 14 games. Page's naming gives the Corpus Christi Rayz back to back CHL Players of the week after Rayz forward Jay Woodcroft received the award last week.
Page and the Rayz are starting a season-long nine game road trip tomorrow morning in Laredo. The Rayz face-off will be at 11:00am and airing on ESPN 1230am KSIX.
