Kalamazoo, MI- The Kalamazoo Wings of the United Hockey League announce the signing of forward Mark Major.

Major, who was selected in the 1988 NHL Entry Draft in the 2nd round by the Pittsburgh Penguins, started this season with the Laval Chiefs of the Quebec Senior Major Hockey League. In 40 games with the Chiefs, Major registered 26 points (14 goals, 12 assists) and 149 minutes in penalties.

"During this time of the season teams are looking for those final puzzle pieces," said Vice President/General Manager Paul L. Pickard. "We wanted to add to our team toughness and we accomplished that with this signing."

Mark has spent a majority of his career at the highest levels of the hockey including the National Hockey League. Major played two games with the Detroit Red Wings during the 1996-97 season.

Major has earned a reputation as a policeman on the ice. In his 14-year career, the native of Toronto Ontario has amassed 2,854 minutes in penalties.

Besides spending his fair share of time in penalty box, Major also knows how to find the back of the net. Mark has scored 213 goals in his career and has assisted in 215 others.

This will be Major's second venture in the United Hockey League. Mark played two seasons in the UHL as a member of the Flint Generals.
