A High Five & a Three-Game Sweep

Midland RockHounds News Release

Only three Texas League batters have collected five hits in a single this season. All three are RockHounds, and Ryon Healy is "two" of them, with both of his five-hit efforts coming at the expense of the Frisco RoughRiders. The 'Hounds third baseman was a perfect 5-for-5 Wednesday night, and his fourth hit, a solo home run (and his 40th RBI of the season), proved to be the game-winner.

As they did Tuesday, the RockHounds took a 4-0 lead, scoring twice in each of the first two innings, with Healy driving the second-inning tallies with a single. Frisco cut the lead in half, scoring twice in the third. The runs were unearned, ironically enough, because of after an error by Healy (this game will keep you humble), but his seventh-inning solo shot to left made the score 5-2 and would provide the winning margin.

As the RockHounds did in the second, the RoughRiders put together a two-run rally beginning with the bases empty and two out. After Seth Frankoff retired the first two batters in the ninth, Frisco drew within 5-4 on three consecutive hits (and a wild pitch). Trever Adams (single) and Zach Cole (double) each drove in a run before Frankoff got Patrick Cantwell to ground out, ending the game and completing the series sweep.

The RockHounds took all three games at Dr Pepper Ballpark and have now won five straight.

Along with Healy's five-hit game, Colin Walsh extended his hit streak to 17 games, going 3-for-5 with a stolen base and three runs scored.

The RockHounds

... are 22-11 in the second half and 57-46 overall (again, a new high-water mark for the season at 11 games over .500) ... have won five straight and eight of their last 10 ... have their second-longest win streak of the season (seven straight, May 8-15) ... earned their fifth series sweep of the season (their second sweep of the RoughRiders) ... are 12-6 in the season series with Frisco (7-1 at home and 6-5 at Dr Pepper Ballpark) ... are 32-18 at Security Bank Ballpark and 25-28 on the road ... are 38-29 vs. the South Division and 19-17 vs. the North.

- Texas League South: The RockHounds pushed Frisco (17-15) into third place, four-and-a-half games back. First half champion Corpus Christi's 7-6 come-from-behind win over San Antonio keeps the Hooks (18-15) within four games with San Antonio (12-21) now 10 back.

Kibbles & Bits

- The RockHounds have had 10 or more hits in five straight games.

- Ryon Healy (5-for-5, HR, two runs, three RBI) had five hits for the second time this season, both against Frisco (5-for-6, May 9, at Security Bank Ballpark). Jaycob Brugman has the Texas League's only other five-hit game (5-for-5, May 25, at Corpus Christi).

- Colin Walsh (1-for-4, walk, two stolen bases) extended his hit streak to 17 games (29-for-66, .439). The streak is the fourth-longest in the TL in 2015, one game behind a trio of 18-gamers (including one by the RockHounds' Chad Pinder).

- Rangel Ravelo (1-for-5, RBI) has hit in six straight games (11-for-27, .407) and has hits in 10 of his last 11 games (17-for-45, .378) with one home run and 12 RBI. Ravelo has reached base in 16 of his 17 games as a member of the 'Hounds and is hitting .348 overall.

- Reliever Brendan McCurry, promoted Tuesday from Stockton, pitched two perfect innings (with three strikeouts) in his Double-A debut.

- Pitcher Sean Manaea, acquired by Oakland from Kansas City in the Ben Zobrist trade (July 28), has joined the RockHounds. Manaea, who entered the season rated the Royals' # 3 prospect by Baseball America, is expected to make his debut during the upcoming home stand.
