A different day, same score in Whitecap win

COMSTOCK PARK - Mike Hernandez went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer as the Whitecaps defeated Wisconsin, 4-1 for the second game in a row.

Hernandez launched his fifth home run of the season to left field in the second inning. The two run blast broke a scoreless tie.

Sendy Vasquez pitched 6 innings for the Whitecaps and allowed the only Wisconsin run of the game.

Ron Garth hit an RBI single to left center, which cut the lead to 2-1 in the top of the sixth.

In the bottom of the sixth, West Michigan padded the lead with a pair of runs. Pedro Cotto scored on a wild pitch by reliever Harold Williams. Cameron Maybin came in on a single by Justin Justice to provide the final margin of victory.

Loren Fraser threw two scoreless innings of relief for the Whitecaps and worked out of a bases loaded jam in the eighth inning. Fraser has pitched eight innings for the Whitecaps in three appearances this season with no runs allowed.

Anthony Claggett pitched nine and earned his fifth save.
