The Rays Continue to Struggle

The Devil Rays continued to struggle on Friday night as they lost to the Fort Wayne Wizards by a score of 11-2. The loss was the D-Rays eighth consecutive. During the losing steak they have failed to lead a game.

Mike Wlodarczyk took the mound for the Rays and tossed 4.1 innings. The Wizards rocked him for seven hits and six runs with four of them earned. Wlodarczyk fanned four Wizards batters but put six batters on base with five walks and one hit-by-pitch.

Drew Bigda entered in the fourth frame to relieve Wlodarczyk and pitched 2.2 innings. Bigda struck out two and allowed one hit and three earned runs with four walks.

Billy Evers finished off the final two innings, fanning three and allowing one hit and one run.

The Rays managed four extra base hits on the night, two of them coming from catcher Alex Jamieson. Jamieson finished 2-4 with one run scored and one RBI.

Midwest League All-star Rhyne Hughes also had multiple hits in the game. He went 2-4 with a double and a run scored.

The Devil Rays will try to end their losing streak tomorrow against the Fort Wayne Wizards at 7:05pm. The first 1,000 fans through the gates will receive a Batting Helmet courtesy of Super Rock 104.9. Stick around because there will be a special fireworks show after the game!
