Lugnuts Take Third Consecutive Game

LANSING - The Lansing Lugnuts took advantage of ten walks issued by the Clinton LumberKings in a 6-3 victory at Oldsmobile Park. Lansing has won three consecutive games, including the first two of the series with Clinton.

Lansing trailed 3-1 in the fifth when Kyle Rogers walked the first two batters of the inning. Rogers allowed an RBI single to Jacob Butler that scored Sean Shoffit, which cut the lead to 3-2. He then gave up a single to Joey Metropoulos that plated Jason Armstong to tie the game at 3-3.

Rogers, who walked eight in the contest, was pulled from the game in favor of Juan Carlos Garcia after the single. David Hicks then smacked a single to right field that scored Butler to give Lansing the 4-3 lead.

The Lugnuts added two more runs in the sixth inning. Lansing loaded the bases for Armstrong, who hit a single into right field that plated Yuber Rodriguez and Jesus Gonzalez to make it a 6-3 game.

The Lugnuts trailed 3-1 after three innings, when Ian Gac cracked a solo homer to extend the lead for the LumberKings.

Aaron Tressler (5-2) got the win for Lansing, throwing seven innings and allowing three runs on eight hits. Only one run was earned.

Rogers (1-5) suffered the loss for the LumberKings, tossing four innings and allowing four runs on two hits.

Derek Tate notched his first save of the season, fanning the final batter of the game with two men on base.

Lansing (45-31, 5-4) and Clinton (27-51, 4-5) will play the third game of the series on Saturday evening. There will be LAFCU Fireworks following game, which is slated to begin at 7:05 p.m.
