Owen Sound, ON - Kitchener lost a hard fought game 5-3 in Owen Sound on Saturday afternoon. This was the third game between the two teams this season and the Attack now leads the season series 2-1. Mitchell Martin scored two goals for the club and Filip Mesar recorded two points in the game including his first goal since returning to the Rangers.

Owen Sound got off to a quick start, scoring twenty-two seconds in. Colby Barlow sent the puck to the point from the goal line to Sam Sedley who directed a shot towards the net. Deni Goure was parked out front and tipped it in for the early lead. 32 seconds later Martin entered the zone on a two-on-one with Mesar but opted to shoot and found the back of the net to tie the game. This was Martin's second goal in as many nights.

Jackson Parsons kept the game tied at one making two diving stops with seven minutes to go in the first. Owen Sound forward Ben Cormier tried to score on two rebounds in front back-to-back but Parsons dove to make the saves. Cameron Reid took a hooking penalty on the play, which the Rangers successfully killed off. The first period ended at one apiece, and Owen Sound led the shots 11-10.

With ten minutes to go in the second period, and the Attack on the powerplay, Goure received the puck on the goal line and came out forcing Parsons to make an unbelievable stop to back up the kill. 11:39 into the second period Carson Rehkopf took a slashing penalty. Kitchener killed it off highlighted by a Matthew Sop breakaway.

Servac Petrovsky dumped the puck into the Rangers' end with four seconds left to go in the period. On a set play, Cedrick Guindon sped into the zone and received the dump before rifling the puck past Parsons to put Owen Sound up 2-1 going into the second intermission. After 40 minutes of play, Owen Sound led shots 31-19, registering 20 shots in the period.

Mesar tied the game back up early in the third period as he flew through the neutral zone and placed the puck perfectly over George's shoulder and in the back of the net from the outside. This was Mesar's first goal and third point in two games since returning from Laval of the AHL. Hunter Brzustewicz extended his point streak to 12 games with an assist on the goal as he launched a long pass up to Mesar on the breakout. The Blueshirts were not done there. Mesar took a shot toward the Attack goal that was tipped over the net. It bounced out to Martin who close to the crease and he tapped it in. Sop extended his point streak to eight with an assist on this goal. Kitchener put themselves up 3-2, scoring twice in the first two minutes of the third frame.

Owen Sound scored a goal very similar to their first to tie the game at three with 11:13 to go in the game. On the powerplay this time, Sedley took a shot from the point that was tipped in by Guindon. Sedley also set up the Attack's fourth goal shortly after. He took a wrist shot from the point and a tied-up Landen Hookey knocked the puck in. Goure and Petrovsky each recorded their second point of the game as they registered secondary assists on each of the goals.

Hookey ended the game by scoring on the empty net with 1:05 to go to make it 5-3 Owen Sound. Kitchener was outshot 38-32 in the game despite outshooting Owen Sound 13-7 in the third period. Rehkopf's seven-game goal streak and eight-game point streak came to an end in the loss. Parsons made 33 of 37 saves in the loss, while George stopped 29 of 32 shots. The Rangers went 0/1 on the powerplay and 3/4 on the penalty kill.

With two goals and an assist, Guindon was awarded the first star of the game. Martin received the second star with two goals and the third star went to Sedley with three assists.
