Owen Sound, ON - The Kitchener Rangers travel to Owen Sound today after beating Erie 5-4 in overtime on Friday night. Puck drop is set for 4 pm at the Harry Lumley Bayshore Community Centre.

The Rangers have hosted the Attack twice this season, with both clubs having one win each. The Rangers hold the advantage of 24-14-4-1 dating back to the 2017-18 season. Over the past 42 meetings games, Kitchener has travelled to Owen Sound 20 times. The Rangers hold the advantage of 11-6-2-1 in Owen Sound. The last time the Attack hosted the Rangers was March 18, 2023, and the Rangers came out victorious in overtime for a final score of 3-2.
Owen Sound last came to Kitchener a week ago where the Rangers won 5-3. Matthew Sop and Hunter Brzustewicz (Vancouver) led the way both with three-point nights: Sop (2G, 1A), Brzustewicz (1G, 2A). All four lines for the Rangers contributed with nine skaters recording a point against the Attack that night including Adrian Misaljevic, Trent Swick, Cameron Mercer, Antonino Pugliese, Carson Rehkopf, Mitchell Martin, and Luke Ellinas.
The Attack have lost their last three games playing Kitchener, Brantford, and Kingston. In their most recent game, Owen Sound faced Kingston and lost 4-3 in regulation. Servac Petrovsky registered a multi-point night with two assists.
The Rangers won two of their last three games, against Sarnia and Erie. The Rangers record jumped to 9-3-0-0 Friday night after the Rangers beat Erie in overtime with a final score of 5-4. Sop put an end to the overtime early scoring only 1:26 in.
The Rangers' have capitalized on the power play on 11 of 45 opportunities to rank them eighth in the OHL at 24.4%. Owen Sound sits right behind them in ninth in the league at 24.1%. The Rangers penalty kill ranks seventh in the league at 83.3% while Owen Sound is 13th at 78.1%.
Scouting the Rangers:
The Rangers remain first in the Western Conference and second in the OHL. Rangers' skaters continue to dominate the leaderboards with the top four point-getters in the league; Brzustewicz passed Rehkopf for the number one spot with 24 points (5G, 19A), Rehkopf sits one point behind him with 14 goals and nine assists, Sop has jumped to the third spot with 21 points (8G, 13A), and Misaljevic holds fourth place with 20 points (10G, 10A). Rehkopf and Misaljevic hold first and second place respectively for top goal scorers and four Rangers lead in the +/- department: Matthew Andonovski (16), Misaljevic (15), Brzustewicz (14), and Rehkopf (13).
The point streaks continue with Rehkopf on an eight-game point streak, and at least one goal in the past seven. Sop is on a seven-game point streak with 17 points (7G, 10A) in these seven games. Brzustewicz is hot on the blueline with all 24 of his points coming in the past 11 games played.
Filip Mešár returned to Kitchener collecting two assists in his season debut last night and Cameron Reid registered his first OHL goal in the game and tallied an assist.
Scouting the Attack:
Owen Sound has played 10 games with a record of 4-5-1-0 which puts them in 12th place in the OHL and last in the Midwest division. The Attack is currently on a three-game losing streak.
Colby Barlow (Winnipeg) is on a five-game point streak with six points (3G, 3A). Ethan Borroughs has entered a three-game point streak, in the three games Borroughs has recorded four points (3G, 1A). Deni Goure is leading the Attack as the top point-getter with 12 points (6G, 6A).
Goaltender, Carter George is currently placed first for OHL goaltenders, George is playing at a .930 save percentage and a 2.09 goals-against average. George played in eight games for the Attack so far this season.
