Green Bay Rockers News Release
Green Bay, WI - July 25th, 2011 - Monday night's game at Joannes Stadium began the crucial three-game series with the first place Waterloo Bucks. In a see-saw battle game that saw three lead changes, the Green Bay Bullfrogs used a two-run seventh inning to take game one 6-5. Sunday afternoon's hero Cameron Dullnig came through again for the âFrogs on Monday night hitting a two-run double in the seventh that gave the Bullfrogs the lead for good. Billy Moon got his first win as a Frog and Adam Cimber picked up the two inning save, his sixth of the year.
Just like in Sunday's game against the Rafters, the Bullfrogs got off to a quick start. After a single by Ty Filliben, the âFrogs catcher Duncan McAlpine hit a double to center that put Green Bay ahead 1-0. Ryan Allgrove would add one more run in the first, scoring McAlpine on a sacrifice fly.
In the third inning, the Bucks erased their two-run deficit. With runners on first and second, Jeremy Lucas hit a line drive double to left field that tied the game at two.
The Bullfrogs would strike right back. In the bottom of the fourth, with Phillip Ervin on third base and only one out, Alec Mehrten hit a groundball to short that would score Ervin and give the Bullfrogs a 3-2 lead.
After a lead-off walk in the fifth, the Bucks took their first lead of the game on a triple to right by Davis Hendrickson. Former Bullfrog Chris Migani would immediately follow that up with a sac fly to score Hendrickson giving the Bucks a 4-3 lead. Waterloo would add another insurance run in the sixth on a double by Colin Feefe after a two out error by the Bullfrogs extended the inning. Waterloo starter Dakota Bacus pitched five and two-thirds giving up four runs on seven hits while striking out six.
After the âFrogs closed the game to within one in the sixth inning, Paul Hoenecke would start the rally in the seventh with a one out single. After a wild pitch put on Hoenecke on second, Phillip Ervin hit a single to left that put both runners on the corners. With two outs, Cameron Dullnig cracked a double over the center fielder's head that scored both Hoenecke and Ervin to give the âFrogs the 6-5 lead for good.
âFrogs starter Zak Hermans got the no decision after pitching six innings giving up five runs on eight hits while striking out two. Billy Moon pitched a scoreless seventh and got his first win of the year, while Adam Cimber made his second straight save after striking out four in his two innings pitched.
The win puts the âFrogs only two and a half games back of the first-place Bucks and the second game of the three game series is Tuesday July 26th at Joannes Stadium. It's a Miller Lite Buck Nite with George âThe Animal' Steele making a special guest appearance. The Bullfrogs and 107.5 The Fan want you to join us for a night of beer and body slams.
