
Willmar's Late Runs Down Lunkers 5-3

(Brainerd Lakes Area) - Mitch Delfino came up with two late RBis in the 7th and 9th innings for the Willmar Stingers as they defeated the Brainerd Lakes Area Lunkers 5-3 Monday night at Mills Field.
With the Lunkers down 3-2 in the Top of the 9th, Delfino's two-out double brought home Ryan Dettman from third base which put the Stingers ahead for good. They would add one more in the 9th for their fifth run of the game.
Dan Russell picks up the win for Willmar as he moves to (5-2) on the season. Russell pitched seven and a third, giving up two runs and striking out three.
The Lunkers got a run in the eighth and a run in the ninth but it was not enough.
The loss goes to Kye Winter for the Lunkers as he falls to (3-3). He pitched six innings, giving up two runs and striking out six.
Thomas Taylor pitched an inning and two-thirds to pick up his first save.
The Lunkers fall to (7-13) with the loss, Willmar improves to (9-9).
The Lunkers and Stingers are back in action Tuesday night at Mills Field. First pitch is set for 7:05.
