Green Bay Rockers News Release
Green Bay, WI - A night after being shutout at home, the Green Bay Bullfrogs responded with nine hits en route to a 4-2 victory over the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters on Sunday at Joannes Stadium. The âFrogs rallied in the sixth inning down 2-1, thanks in part to a Cameron Dullnig game-tying triple. âFrogs starter Drew Bradshaw pitched five strong innings and Adam Cimber pitched a scoreless ninth for his fifth save of the year. With the win, the Bullfrogs are now back to .500 in the second half.
After only four hits against the Rafters on Saturday, the Bullfrog batters got off to a quick start. Jonathan Walsh led off the first inning with a right field double, and Jacob May followed that up with an RBI double of his own that gave the âFrogs an early 1-0 lead. Rafters starter Jacob Doyle was in an immediate jam with both May and McAlpine on the corners with no outs, but managed to record the next three outs and strand the runners.
The missed opportunity to score early almost haunted the âFrogs. Down 1-0 in the third, Rafters left fielder Garrett Nash hit his first homer of the year over the left field wall to tie the game at one. The game would go scoreless until the sixth inning when Curtis Frisbie hit a single to left that scored Alex Edward and the Rafters took a 2-1 lead.
The âFrogs came right back in the sixth. Paul Hoenecke began the rally with a single to right and Cameron Dullnig immediately followed that up with a triple to score Hoenecke. With two outs and runners at the corners after a Ryan Allgrove walk, Ty Filliben struck out, but the ball went wild past the catcher and Dullnig would socre the eventual winning run. Steven Halcomb added another RBI single in the sixth that would give the âFrogs all the cushion they needed to get the win.
Doyle lasted only three innings for the Rafters giving up three hits while striking out two. Bradshaw pitched five innings allowing two runs on five hits while also striking out two. Cory Kyle pitched in relief for the âFrogs and earned his fourth win of the year. Cimber pitched a scoreless ninth for his fifth save of the year.
