
Stephen Silas Named to Team Ontario Under 17 Roster

Belleville Bulls defenceman Stephen Silas has been selected to represent Team Ontario at the 2009 World Under 17 Hockey Challenge being held December 29 through January 4 in Port Alberni, British Columbia. Team Ontario is the defending gold medalist of the ten team event that includes five regional teams from Canada along with five international teams from Finland, Germany, Russia, Slovakia, and USA. Bulls Assistant Coach Jake Grimes also serves as an Assistant Coach for Team Ontario.
Silas currently sits third in OHL rookie defenceman scoring with two goals and ten points in 22 games played this season. The Georgetown, Ontario native was selected by Belleville in the first round of the 2008 OHL Priority Selection after spending the 2007-2008 season with the Halton Hurricanes AAA Midget team.
Team Ontario will play an exhibition game against Finland on December 28 before opening the round robin schedule the following day with a match-up with Team Atlantic. Last year, Tyler Randell was a member of Team Ontario's gold medal winning team.
