Raptors 905 (4-12), the NBA G League affiliate of the Toronto Raptors defeated the Memphis Hustle (5-11) 122-104 in the NBA G League Winter Showcase Tuesday evening. The 905 were led by Jontay Porter who contributed 22 points, nine rebounds, and three assists, shooting 9-13 from the field and 4-5 from three-point range. David Johnson led the Hustle with 21 points, seven rebounds, three assists, and two steals in the loss.
‰ ‰ ‰ ‰ ‰ ‰In their lone meeting of the 2023-24 season, the 905 and Hustle opened the ball game trading baskets, with the 905 taking a one-point lead going into the second quarter. The 905 created some separation, outscoring the Hustle 38-23, earning a 16-point advantage behind 18 first-half points from Porter (7-8FG, 4-4 3FG).
‰ ‰ ‰ ‰ ‰ ‰Memphis opened the half on an 11-6 run but the 905 were able to build off their momentum, as they extended their lead to 19 entering the final frame. The Hustle outscored the 905 22-18 in the fourth quarter, but we were unable to cut into the 905's lead, dropping their final match in Orlando.
‰ ‰ ‰ ‰ ‰ ‰The 905 received complementary scoring from Kevin Obanor who contributed 17 points, 12 rebounds, and three assists in the victory. GG Jackson paced the Hustle with 19 points, six rebounds, two blocks, and a steal in the match.
‰ ‰ ‰ ‰ ‰ ‰Raptors 905 and Memphis Hustle both open the regular season on the road Dec. 27 facing the Westchester Knicks at 7:00 p.m. and Indiana Mad Ants at 6:00 p.m., respectively.
