905 Drop the Season Series to the Cleveland Charge

Raptors 905 (11-19), the NBA G League affiliate of the Toronto Raptors dropped the season series to the Cleveland Charge (13-16) 123-120 in overtime Sunday afternoon. The 905 were led by Kevin Obanor who contributed a team-high 26 points off the bench, adding seven rebounds and one assist while shooting 8-11 from the field. Sharife Cooper led the Charge to victory with a game-high 34 points, six rebounds, eight assists, and two steals.
The Charge took control of the ball from tip-off as they opened the game on a 14-2 run behind 11 points from Cooper. The 905 quickly responded as they went on an 11-4 run before trading baskets for the remainder of the quarter. Up five to open the second, Cleveland continued to score, extending their lead to 12 before a 12-2 Raptors 905 run brought the game within two points with three minutes remaining in the first half. The 905 continued to rally back as they closed the second quarter on an 11-2 run. Obanor and Cooper had 16 and 18 first-half points, respectively.
The Charge regrouped during the break, coming out strong as they outscored the 905 23-18 to tie the ball game at 82 points apiece. Cleveland closed out the quarter strong, outscoring the visitors 8-4, and regaining the lead going into the final frame. The two teams traded baskets and stops throughout the fourth quarter, however, the 905 outscored the Charge 29-25 in the quarter, tying the game at 115 at the end of regulation.
The two teams entered overtime with the newly implemented a Target Score of adding seven points to the tied score for overtime games. The Target Score was set to 122 and the first team to hit or surpass wins. The two teams played a competitive overtime, but the Charge were able to come away with the outscoring the 905 8-5.
Justise Winslow returned to the 905 lineup contributing 22 points, 16 rebounds, five assists, and two steals in the loss. Isaiah Mobley paced the Charge with 24 points, nine rebounds, six assists, two blocks, and four steals.
The Raptors 905 return to Mississauga for a four-game homestand to close out the 2023/24 season beginning with the Westchester Knicks, Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. The Charge travel to Memphis to take on the Hustle, Thursday at 8:00 p.m.
