SANTA CRUZ, CA - The Santa Cruz Surfers (17-11) - a one-night name change for the Santa Cruz Warriors to honor the rich surfing history and culture in Santa Cruz - fended off the NBA G League Ignite (2-27), 102-88, on Friday night at Kaiser Permanente Arena in front of a sold-out crowd.

Guard Kendric Davis led both teams with 21 points, five assists, and seven rebounds. Forward Gui Santos, on assignment from Golden State, contributed 16 points and seven rebounds, and two-way guard Pat Spencer added 16 points off the bench. Center Amida Brimah notched a double-double with 10 points, 12 rebounds, and three blocks, setting the all-time NBA G League record for most career blocks with 347 blocked shots.

Guard London Johnson came off the bench to lead the Ignite with 19 points and seven assists. Forwards Michael Frazier II and Babacar Sane both contributed 14 points. Forward Tyler Smith collected 10 points and six rebounds, and guard Thierry Darlan rounded out the scoring with nine points and 10 rebounds.

The first quarter saw both teams battling for the lead before the Surfers built a 17-9 advantage halfway through the frame. However, the Ignite pieced together a 7-2 run of their own to end the quarter trailing 27-24. The game remained competitive in the second frame until back-to-back three pointers from Santos and Spencer boosted Santa Cruz to a 41-33 advantage. The Surfers maintained their lead throughout the remainder of the frame to enter the break ahead 46-39.

The second half opened with Brimah collecting his first of three blocked shots for the night to set a new NBA G League record with 345 career blocks with 10:41 remaining in the third quarter. Nine points from Davis gave the Surfers a 70-48 advantage with less than five minutes remaining, but the Ignite closed their deficit to 64-75 to end the frame. Back-to-back blocks from Brimah brought the crowd to their feet at the start of the final quarter before the visitors narrowed the gap to as little as two points, 88-86, with less than three minutes in the contest. Santa Cruz continued to fend off the Ignite as time expired, and a steal from guard Donovan Williams sealed the 102-88 victory for the Surfers.
