Peterborough Petes News Release

(Peterborough, ON) - The Petes were dealt their first loss of the 2018-19 season on Saturday night, falling 7-1 to the reigning OHL Champion Hamilton Bulldogs.

Off the ice, a fundraising chuck-a-puck spearheaded by rookie goaltender Tye Austin, who saw his first OHL action on Saturday night, raised $700 that will be directed to tornado relief efforts in Austin's home town of Dunrobin following September 21's ravaging storm.

On the ice, the Bulldogs scored three goals in each of the first two periods to take a 6-0 lead. Rookie Cameron Butler finally got the Petes on the board mid-way through the third period after redirecting a point shot from Toronto Maple Leafs prospect Semyon Der-Arguchintsev. Winnipeg Jets draft pick Declan Chisholm also registered an assist. Hamilton added another goal late in the final frame to seal a 7-1 victory.

The Petes were 1/6 on the power play and 7/8 on the penalty kill. Austin turned away 8 of 9 shots in relief of Hunter Jones who stopped 14 of 20 shots.

The Petes are back in action on Thursday, October 4 at 7:05pm to host the OHL's 2017-18 Western Conference Champion Soo Greyhounds. Tickets are available at the PMC Collins Barrow Box Office in-person, online, or over the phone at (705) 743-3561. Fans can still take advantage of the Season Starter Pack and save over $40 on tickets and merchandise.

Hungry fans should also get their tickets while supplies last for the all-you-can-eat Petesa Party on Friday, October 12. Tickets start at just $10, with proceeds supporting the Petes Education Fund and Roger Neilson House.
