Ottawa 67's News Release
MISSISSAUGA - The Ottawa 67's started their busy long weekend on the right note with a 6-5 win over the Mississauga Steelheads on Valentine's Day, in what was a wild affair with endless excitement until the very end on the road. Marco Rossi (twice), Joe Garreffa, Austen Keating, Mitch Hoelscher and Noel Hoefenmayer were the goal scorers for Ottawa in what was their 42nd win this season.
The first period was all Steelheads, as they outshot Ottawa 16-5 and headed to the dressing room with a 1-0 lead after twenty minutes, thanks to a goal from Charlie Callaghan.
Mississauga made it 2-0 midway through the second when Keean Washkurak beat will Cranley. 67's Marco Rossi and Joe Garreffa however both found the back of the net with less than five minutes remaining in the period, making it a tie game of 2-2 after two. Garreffa's goal was is long awaited 100th goal of his OHL career.
The third and final period ended up being the craziest one of the game, as a total of seven goals were scored in the final twenty. Mitch Hoelscher banged it a rebound early on to give Ottawa their first lead of the game, followed by an Austen Keating power play marker giving the visitors a two goal edge, making them seemingly starting to run away with the game. The Steelheads had other plans however. In the span of just about three and a half minutes, around the halfway point of the final period, Whittaker, Hardie and Washkurak all scored for Mississauga, making it an unpredictable score of 5-4 for the Steelheads after they were down by two only a short time before. It took only a minute and a half for the OHL's top scorer in Marco Rossi to answer back and tie things up with his 32nd of the season. It would be Noel Hoefenmayer, with exactly tree minutes remaining on the clock, that would score the game winning goal late in the game for the 67's.
The Barber Poles will return to action on Sunday afternoon, when they host the Windsor Spitfires inside The Arena at TD Place at 2:00 PM, before they take the ice 24 hours later on Monday afternoon to face the London Knights for the Family Day Game, which will featured the 67's annual Wiener Dog Race.

Noel Hoefenmayer is now tied for the league lead in game winning goals with eight.
