Ottawa 67's News Release

Following a tough shootout loss to the North Bay Battalion on Sunday, the Ottawa 67's were able to get back in the win column, tonight, with a 3-2 victory over the Peterborough Petes.

Vinzenz Rohrer opened the scoring, and Brady Stonehouse added another, before Teddy Sawyer's second period marker became the eventual gamewinner. Will Cranley secured the win for his time, shutting down a late Peterborough onslaught to maintain the Ottawa lead.

The 67's opened the scoring, amidst a strong first period effort. Vsevolod Gaidamak threw the puck to the front of the Peterborough goal, where Will Gerrior took a whack at it, and the rebound bounced to Rohrer, who fired a laser top shelf for his 12th of the season.

It didn't take the Barber Poles long to pad their lead, finding an insurance marker less than a minute later. A turnover in the Peterborough zone saw the puck land on the stick of Cam Tolnai in the slot, and while his shot was stopped, Stonehouse crashed the net, and cashed in the rebound to make it 2-0.

Jonathan Melee got one back for the Petes with 1:31 to play in the first, however, and early in the second period, he found his second of the night, tying the game at 2-2.

A back-and-forth second frame did eventually go the way of the Barber Poles. 8:06 in, Luca Pinelli cycled the puck to Sawyer at his own blue line, and the defender weaved his way into the Peterborough zone, firing his second of the season bar down to restore the Ottawa lead.

Try as the Petes might, Cranley shut them down with a series of stellar saves in the third, and the 67's earned a well-deserved 3-2 victory.

Game Notes:

With an assist, Cam Tolnai snapped a five-game pointless streak.

Vsevolod Gaidamak ended his four-game pointless drought.

All three 67's goalscorers have appeared on Central Scouting's 2022 NHL Draft rankings, this season.

Brady Stonehouse has scored six goals against Peterborough, during the 2021-22 campaign.

Up Next: Ottawa visits the Niagara IceDogs, Friday, at 7:00pm ET.
