67's earn second home victory of New Year
January 9, 2010 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL)
Ottawa 67's News Release
Today's game marked our Ottawa 67's second home victory of the New Year making them undefeated in the Urbandale Centre in 2010! Our boys kicked it into high gear, scoring against the Kingston Frontenacs within the first five minutes of play. The action continued at a steady pace throughout the game, which ended with a final score of 5-2 for our Ottawa 67's.
The game wasn't the only thing entertaining the crowd today. There was a lot of excitement between periods both on the ice and the concourse. During the second intermission, crowds gathered on the concourse to check out God Rocks (photographed above), hosted by Family Radio CHRI, as part of our Ottawa 67's Faith Day. The group had fans singing and dancing along as they performed two songs, which were just a taste of the full 45-minute performance they gave after today's game. It was the first time a concert has ever been held during our Ottawa 67's game, but judging by the crowd, it definately won't be the last!
During the first intermission, a centre-ice Mascot Madness Sumo competition (photographed below) had everyone in the stands cheering for their favorite local mascot. With no rules holding them back, all of the mascots fought to be the last mascot standing in the centre ice circle! Although we were rooting for Killer Puck, he was no match against Plucky the Chicken from the Honest Lawyer who won the competition.
First intermission also featured a Best Hat Trick competition (photographed below), hosted by Family Radio CHRI. Fans of all ages gathered on the concourse to take part by scoring in an actual hat to win a $500 gift card for Stereo Plus and Design. Don't let the picture fool you; it's harder than it looks!
Our Ottawa 67's will be taking on the Peterborough Petes next Friday, January 15. If you're as excited as were are to see if they can continue their 2010 winning streak, join us in the stands!
