Ottawa 67's Topple Belleville

January 9, 2010 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL)
Ottawa 67's News Release

Our Ottawa 67's came out flying last night and pulled out a win against the tough Belleville Bulls. The game was a huge success as our boys scored five unanswered goals to complete the 5-1 win. The offense was really firing on all cylinders as nine different players hit the score sheet, including Corey Cowick and Ryan Martindale. With this win the team gains sole possession of first place in a tough east division.

The game was also special for reasons other than the win as Corey Cowick, team leader and Ottawa Senators draft pick, returned to the team after an injury that had him out all season. Not only was he a physical force in his first game back, but he also chipped in offensively with a goal late in the second period. It was also a big night for youngster Cody Ceci! Cody just returned from his silver medal performance at the World U-17 Championships. Cody was a big part of his team's success and it seemed to have worked out for the best.

Last night's game also featured two future 67's games (pictured below) that had four Ottawa Center IP teams taking the ice. Great job guys!, you all put on a great show and kept the crowd on the edge of their seat!

It wasn't all fun and games last night as the organization paid tribute to longtime guest services employee, Warren Stone, who passed away earlier this week. Warren was a real character and a wonderful person to be around. The 67's would like to thank Warren for all his years of service and will always remember him as the man with a big smile and a heart of gold.

Jubilee Fine Jewellers 3 star selection

Third star: Ottawa 67's Tyler Toffoli, No. 16

Second star: Ottawa 67's Thomas Nesbitt, No.9

First star: Ottawa 67's Corey Cowick, No.27

Our fan of the game is Peter Bassett! Peter loves coming to the games because he gets to munch on the tasty treats while watching great goals, hits and saves. His favourite player is Peter Stevens. Great cheering Peter!

Our season ticket holder of the game is Dennis Fleck. Dennis has been a season ticket holder for 10 years, but has been coming to the games for more than 30! Dennis keeps coming back because he has fun watching great hockey at a reasonable price, along with the fact that he loves the team and can't get enough of 67's hockey!

We had two groups of the game last night. Both the Nepean Novice A Dark Knights and the Nepean Novice A Aces! Way to cheer on our team guys! We hope to see you all again very soon!

Our player profile is Shane Prince! Shane played his first game with the 67's last night and played a great game, with one assist! Great game Shane, hopefully this is a sign of things to come!
