Ottawa 67's News Release

(Ottawa ON.): The Ottawa 67's are pleased to announce the following two transactions:

Player Ryan Van Stralen has agreed to an OHL contract and education package.

The second transaction saw the 67's acquire player Michal Cajkovsky from the Kingston Frontenacs.

Van Stralen, a 6' 3" 210 lb left winger from Prescott Ontario was a 67's selection in the 2009 OHL selection draft. He was named the CCHL's most improved player this past season and posted 24 goals, 28 assists, 52 points and 111 penalty minutes in 60 games for the Smiths Falls Bears of the CCHL.

General Manager Brian Kilrea said of Van Stralen "Ryan is a big, strong power forward who through hard work and determination has become a very good player. The 67's are pleased to have him on our team and look forward to seeing him on the ice in a 67's uniform next season." Kilrea added, "The 67's also want to recognize the Smiths Falls Bears organization in helping Ryan's development over the past two seasons."

The 67's acquired import player Michal Cajkovsky from the Kingston Frontenacs for a 3rd round selection in the 2013 OHL selection draft. Cajkovsky, a 6'3" 208 lb left defenceman from Bratislava, Slovakia had 4 goals, 11 assists, 15 points and 82 penalty minutes in 67 games for the Frontenacs last season.

Head Coach Chris Byrne commented that "Michal is a big stay at home defenceman that will complement our group of returning defenceman well. He played in all situations in his first season in the OHL last year. We look forward to him joining our team in September and want to thank Doug Gilmour and the Kingston Frontenac's for making the transaction without any delay."

The Ottawa 67's hit the ice this weekend for their Prospects Camp being held at Ottawa University. Camp details can be found at www.ottawa67s.com.
