Hounds Release 2011-12 Schedule

Soo Greyhounds News Release


The Soo Greyhounds Hockey Club, in conjunction with the Ontario Hockey League, today released it's 2011-12 game schedule.

Returning and prospective Hounds will report to Training Camp 2011 on Wednesday, August 31st and will participate in on and off-ice activities leading into the team's Annual Red & White game scheduled for Saturday, September 3rd.

The Hounds will then take part in five OHL pre-season games including three consecutive versus their Northern ONtario rivals, the Sudbury Wolves, before a back-to-back weekend with the Saginaw Spirit.

Pre-season schedule is as follows:

Friday, September 9 at Sudbury (7:30)

Saturday, September 10 vs Sudbury (7:35)

Tuesday, September 13 at Sudbury (7:30)

Friday, September 16 vs Saginaw (7:35)

Saturday, September 17 at Saginaw (7:11)

The 2011/12 Ontario Hockey League regular season will open on the road for the Hounds on Saturday, September 24 when they make their lone visit of the year to the Yardmen Arena to take on the Belleville Bulls. The weekend will then wrap up twenty-four hours later (Sunday, September 25) at the General Motors Centre against the Oshawa Generals.

Home Opening Weekend festivities will see the Hounds host a pair of Western Conference opponents.

On Friday, September 30 the Windsor Spitfires make their first of three appearances to the Essar Centre in a 7:35 p.m. start time.

The Spitfires advanced to the Rogers Western Conference Championship one season ago before losing to the eventual OHL Champions, Owen Sound Attack, in five games.

Then on Saturday, October 1 the Kitchener Rangers will make their first of just two regular season visits to the Lock City. Game time is set for 7:35 p.m.

A limited number of 2011-12 Soo Greyhounds season tickets are still available by stopping by the Essar Centre Box Office Monday to Friday between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. (The Box Office is closed on Saturday and Sunday)
