67's Acquire Local Defenceman Samuel Mayer from Petes

OTTAWA - The Ottawa 67's announced, today, that they have acquired overage defenceman, and L'Orignal native Samuel Mayer from the Peterborough Petes, sending a trio of draft picks the other way.

The full trade breakdown is as follows:

Mayer, 20, has spent the last three seasons in Peterborough, helping them to a J. Ross Robertson Cup victory last season. Through 37 games during the 2023-24 campaign, the local product has scored 12 goals and 17 assists, for 29 points, and leads the Ontario Hockey League with 183 shots on goal.

During the 2023 postseason, Mayer played a key role on Peterborough's championship squad, posting seven points (2G 5A), on his team's 23-game run to victory.

"Local product Samuel Mayer is a skilled competitor, who played an integral role in the Peterborough Petes' championship victory last season," said 67's General Manager James Boyd. "His addition augments the character, skill, and size of our lineup. We are excited to see Sam in a Barber Pole jersey, and to play a part in his continued development"

Drafted 15th overall by Peterborough in the 2020 U18 Priority Selection, Mayer has appeared in 173 regular season OHL games, posting a statline of 32 goals, 82 assists, and 114 points.
