66ers Sweep Rival Rancho

Inland Empire (40-52, 9-13) completed a three game sweep of the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes (46-46, 9-13) with a 9-2 win. 66ers first baseman C.J. Cron had the offensive highlight of the night as he hit a solo shot in the 8 th inning. Cron went 2-for-5 with a rare stolen base and now has 14 home runs on the season.

Down 2-0, 66ers designated hitter Rolando Gomez got Inland Empire on the board he drove in Cron, taking advantage of a Quakes fielding error. Second baseman Taylor Lindsey hit a two RBI double the next inning to give the 66ers the lead for good. Lindsey went 2-for-5 for the night with three RBIs. Lindsey now has 41 RBIs on the season. Third baseman Kaleb Cowart also had a productive as he contributed three RBIs of his own.

66ers starter Andrew Smith had an effective season debut as he went five innings, giving up two earned runs, striking out three and walking one to earn his first win in High-A. 66ers relievers Alex Burkhard and Eric Cendejas shut down the Quakes offense as they kept them to only one hit for the rest of the game. Quakes starter Brandon Martinez took the loss to fall to 2-2 with both losses coming against Inland Empire.

The 66ers will return home to San Manuel Stadium for a 3 game series versus the Lake Elsinore Storm starting tomorrow at 7:05 pm. It will be a "Welcome Home" Doormat Giveaway Night presented to the first 1,000 fans.
