Storm "Tebow" Their Way to a 4-1 Victory

Lake Elsinore - Matt Andriese is the second pitcher this season who wowed the crowd at the Diamond in a pitching performance. Andriese pitched six 1/3 perfect innings before Mickey Wiswall singled through the left side. But Andriese went seven innings allowing only one run on three hits and struck out seven as the Storm won their 52nd game of the season 4-1.

The Storm scored in the bottom of the first when Tommy Medica hit his 28th double if the season scoring Justin Miller. Medica continued his hit streak to 28 games in which he has hit 41 extra base hits.

In the series Medica had six hits in three games which came in the form of five doubles and a triple.

The second thru fifth inning went scoreless as High Desert pitcher James Gilheeney had his longest outing this season pitching 7 2/3 innings. After he hit B.J. Guinn in the bottom of the third, he went onto record 14 straight out keeping the Storm to a 1-0 lead.

The Mavs tied the game in the sixth when Wiswall singled and advanced to third in a single by Mario Martinez. Brad Miller hit a sacrifice fly to left field to tie the game at 1-1.

Ryan Quigley came in in the eighth and pitched a perfect inning and would eventually collect his third win of the season.

Connor Powers led the bottom of the eighth off with a single to left and Chris Bisson came in to pinch run. Jeremy Rodriguez hit a SAC bunt perfectly down the first base line allowing Bisson to reach second. After Guinn walked Angel Raga came in for the Mavs and gave up a one out two-run triple to Justin Miller on a 3-2 pitch that he lifted up over the shallow center fielder. Miller would later score off Medica's 29th double on the season.

The Mavs would bring the tying run to the plate in the top of the ninth but Kevin Quackenbush would collect his league leading 19th save and a win for the Storm.

High Desert leads the series winning five of six with two series remaining between the two. The Mavs return to The Diamond for a three-game series beginning on July 31 and the Storm head to Adelanto for a four-game series in late August.

Storm fans took part in the World's Largest amount of people "Tebowing" attempt postgame before viewing the Friday Fireworks on the field.

The Storm return to The Diamond on July 20 to take on the Modesto Nuts in a three game series, which includes Super Splash Day on Sunday July 22. Bring your bathing suits and water guns for baseball and some wet & wild fun!
