Tulsa 66ers News Release
TULSA, Okla., February 1, 2008 - A game and season-high 34 points by Dallas Mavericks assignee Nick Fazekas was enough to extend the 66ers winning streak and move them into second place in the Southwest division standings.
The 66ers (14-11) had four other players finish with double figures. David Noel, on assignment from the Milwaukee Bucks, poured in 28 points, while Mike Hall assisted with 16 points. Jason Fontenet was Tulsa's only double-double with 14 points and 11 assists. Keith Closs chipped in 12 points.
Tulsa played like the superior team from the opening tip as they jumped ahead early to lead 26-19 after the end of the first quarter. The Vipers regained control and took the lead with 2:32 left in the second quarter, only to trail by six at halftime (51-45). Keith Closs made a lay-up in the third quarter pushing the 66ers ahead by two points; Rio Grande Valley would never catch up from there on.
Rio Grande Valley was led by Desmon Farmer who scored 32 points. Trent Strickland poured in 24 points and Jesse Smith finished with 13 points.
The 66ers face the Austin Toros tomorrow night, Saturday, Feb. 1, at Expo Square Pavilion. Tip-off is slated for 7 p.m.
