Inland Empire 66ers News Release
San Bernardino, CA- The Inland Empire 66ers of San Bernardino pitching trio of Aaron Hernandez, Kyle Bradish and Austin Warren combined to no-hit the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes for nine innings on Tuesday, however, the Sixers failed to score over that span and the Quakes downed Inland Empire 3-0 in ten innings. The 66ers pitching staff struck out 18 batters over ten frames but Inland Empire (9-10) went 0-for-11 with runners in scoring position at the plate to drop the second game of a four-game set and even the series at one apiece.
Aaron Hernandez worked around command issues for the 66ers to for the first four frames allowing three walks and two hit batsmen but no hits or runs while striking out five. Bradish was dominant tossing four frames and walking two but fanning a career-best nine batters. Quakes starter Gerardo Carrillo tossed five scoreless and lefty Austin Hamilton delivered two perfect frames for Rancho Cucamonga (11-8). The Sixers threatened in the bottom of the ninth inning when Alvaro Rubalcaba's leadoff double opened the frame versus RHP Max Gamboa (1-0). The righty worked out of the jam however and pushed the game to extra frames. With two men aboard, Drew Avans drilled a two-run triple to right in the tenth off Warren (0-1) to secure the first hit of the night for the Quakes and the first runs of the contest. Avans came home on a squeeze bunt by Brandon Montgomery making it 3-0. Jordan Sheffield (SV, 5) struck out the side in the tenth to lock the game down for the Quakes.
The series continues Tuesday at 7:05pm. The contest can be seen and heard live at 66ers.com.
