San Bernardino, CA - Wills Montgomerie struck out ten men in relief and Donovan Casey smashed a go-ahead RBI double in the seventh, as Rancho Cucamonga won their second straight game over the Inland Empire 66ers, picking up a 3-2 victory on Wednesday afternoon at San Manuel Stadium.

Montgomerie had 10 of Rancho's 17 strikeouts and was dominant over 4.2 innings, allowing just one run on one hit, helping the Quakes improve their road record to 10-3 on the season.

Tied at 1-1 in the seventh, Tre Todd opened the inning with a walk, then with two outs, scored on Casey's run-scoring double to give the Quakes the lead at 2-1. Devin Mann with a second straight run-scoring hit, as he singled home Casey to make it 3-1 against Inland Empire reliever Denny Brady (1-2).

Wes Helsabeck allowed a solo homer in the last of the eighth to Torii Hunter, Jr. but that's as close as the 66ers got. Helsabeck got out of the eighth with the lead, then opened the ninth with a strikeout, before giving the ball to Ryan Moseley, who coaxed consecutive groundball outs to wrap up his third save in as many tries this year.

Starling Heredia go the scoring started for Rancho, smacking his second homer of the year in the second inning, giving Rancho a 1-0 lead.

Rancho starter Michael Grove retired six of the seven men he faced over two scoreless innings, before giving way to Montgomerie (2-0), who allowed just a solo homer, a lead-off shot by Alvaro Rubalcaba, tying the game at 1-1.

The Quakes (12-8) will look for three out of four in San Bernardino, throwing Victor Gonzalez (1-1) opposite Inland Empire's Oliver Ortega (1-1) at 7:05pm.
