CHARLESTON, SC - Ryan Dent went 4-for-5 with three RBI and two Greenville pitchers whitewashed Charleston on two hits as the Drive throttled the RiverDogs, 9-0, in South Atlantic League action Sunday in front of 2,954 fans at Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park.

With the win, the Drive snaps a four-game losing skid and improves to 13-11 on the season while the RiverDogs fall to 13-11. Charleston ends a modest four-game home winning streak, and is held scoreless for the first time this year.

With two outs and no one on base, Greenville proceeded to send nine more batters to the plate - highlighted by eight consecutive hitters reaching base - in their explosive six-run second inning off Charleston starter David Phelps (2-1).

In the inning, David Mailman delivered a two-run double, Dent singled in a pair, Anthony Rizzo pushed across a run and Tim Federowicz plated two more with a RBI double.

The Drive struck again in the top of the fourth to take a 7-0 lead when Pete Hissey lined a leadoff single to left. After a botched pickoff attempt moved Hissey to second, Dent socked a double down the left field line that scored Hissey.

Greenville continued to tack runs on the scoreboard for an 8-0 advantage in the fifth when Oscar Tejeda lined a leadoff single to left and then sprinted to third after Michael Almanzar singled to left. Tejeda scampered home on Will Middlebrooks' groundout.

The Drive capped their scoring for a 9-0 advantage in the top of the eighth after Mailman smacked a double down the left field line and then dashed to third after a wild pitch. Hissey knocked home Mailman with a groundout to shortstop.

Drive starter Casey Kelly (2-0) steamrolled the RiverDogs for a season-high 5.2 shutout innings as he scattered two hits and pocketed four strikeouts while walking only one. Reliever Fabian Williamson earned his second save of the season as he finished the final 3.1 frames while walking two and striking out a pair. He did not permit a hit.

Greenville recorded 13 hits on the afternoon, including six doubles, three of which came off Dent's bat. Joining Dent with multiple knocks were Almanzar and Mailman.

David Adams collected both of Charleston's hits.

Phelps, who lost for the first time this season, lasted 4.2 innings and surrendered eight runs on 10 hits, while walking two and striking out two. Dan Kapala and Brad Rulon combined to throw the final 4.1 stanzas and permitted one run on three hits, and Rulon fanned a pair.

Charleston and Greenville battle in Game 3 of their four-game set Monday at 7:05 p.m. as the RiverDogs send right-hander Brett Marshall (0-2, 6.86 ERA) to the mound while the Drive counters with righty Yeiper Castillo (0-2, 6.91 ERA).
