Suns Begin Nine-Game Homestand With Four Against West Virginia

HAGERSTOWN, MD - The Hagerstown Suns will host the Greensboro Grasshoppers at Municipal Stadium for four games beginning Tuesday, May 5 - the opening series of a nine-game homestand.

The Suns (9-11) are riding a four-game winning streak following a road sweep of the West Virginia Power, and have a chance to push their season record over .500 while taking on Greensboro, an affiliate of the Florida Marlins. It is the only trip of the season to Hagerstown for the Grasshoppers.

The May 5 series opener will be the Cinco de Mayo celebration at Municipal Stadium, as well as a Senior Tuesday and a Bingo Tuesday, presented by Equipped for Life. All fans ages 60 and up will receive admission to the 6:35 p.m. game for just $2, and fans of all ages will receive a Bingo card as they enter the gates that corresponds to plays that may transpire on the field during the game. Fans who complete a "Bingo" will be eligible for great prizes at the Suns' Fan Services station.

The Suns will have a 1:05 p.m. start on Wednesday for their Business Person's Special, and encourage fans to enjoy a long lunch and take in a day game at Municipal Stadium. The Wednesday game will mark the first Dollar Day of the Hagerstown Suns' 2009 season, with select concessions items selling for just $1 apiece. It will also be Ladies Day, presented by Hagerstown Magazine, which means all ladies will be admitted into the ballpark for just $5 and will have a chance to win great prizes through a ladies-only raffle.

Thursday's game will be back to a 6:35 p.m. start time, and there will be a very special Thirsty Thursday going on in the Cancun Cantina Beer Garden. In addition to the usual great Thirsty Thursday pricing of $1.25 for domestic 12 oz. drafts, it will also be Redneck Night, which means Natural Light 12 oz. cans will cost just $1 apiece.

The fourth and final game of the series against Greensboro will take place on Friday, May 8 at 6:35 p.m. The Suns have distributed 20,000 ticket vouchers for this game to children throughout the Tri-State Area in support of Strike Out Tobacco Night. With funding made possible through the Cigarette Restitution Fund, Strike Out Tobacco Night will feature a pre-game speech warning children against the dangers of tobacco use.

The Suns will close out their nine-game homestand with five games in four days against West Virginia between May 9 and May 12. More information on the promotions that will occur during that series will follow with the approach of the weekend.

All Suns fans should also be advised that less than three weeks remain to purchase the All-You-Can-Eat Hall of Fame ticket package for the 2009 season. For just $39, fans can receive tickets to the five most-popular Suns' games of the season, with an all-you-can-eat meal included in the price of the ticket. The package also includes a limited-edition Suns hat and t-shirt, and can be purchased by calling the Suns' ticket office at 301-791-6266.
