The lone earned run against Holder came in the bottom of the first, as Hot Rods center fielder Anthony Scelfo homered to right field, giving Bowling Green the early 1-0 lead.
Hagerstown responded with a run in the top of the third inning as James Keithly struck out swinging but reached first base on a wild pitch to lead of the inning. After a single by Robby Jacobsen and a walk issued to Derek Norris, Keithly scored on another wild pitch, knotting the game a 1-1.
In the top of the fourth inning the Suns took the lead for good as Michael Guerrero scored on a double to left field by Jacobsen, and Hagerstown extended the margin to 4-1 with two runs on three hits in the top of the fifth.
After Bowling Green scored an unearned run on a hit and an error by Steven Souza in the bottom of the fifth, the Suns scored once in the seventh inning on back-to-back doubles by Steve Lombardozzi and Norris, and once in the eighth inning to reach the final score of 6-2.
Ricardo Pecina and Chris Rivera pitched the final four innings of the game for the Suns and did not allow a run. Pecia struck out three batters in his three innings of work before Rivera closed the door in the ninth.
The Suns will now travel to Lexington, KY for a four-game series against the Houston Astro's affiliate, the Lexington Legends. First pitch for game one is scheduled for 2:05 p.m. on Sunday, July 26th.
