Fort Wayne TinCaps News Release

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - TinCaps' pitchers Bodi Rascon and Ryan Bergert combined for five innings of one-run baseball and Justin Farmer doubled twice, but the Lake County Captains (Cleveland Guardians affiliate) took advantage of three seventh inning walks to spoil Fort Wayne's home opener, 3-1, on a beautiful Tuesday night at Parkview Field.

Lake County opened the scoring with a two-out RBI single in the fourth from catcher Micael Ramirez. The visitors added two more in the seventh to extend their lead to 3-0.

Farmer, the TinCaps' left fielder, notched his first two hits of the season, driving in third basemen Marcos Castañon with two outs in the ninth inning on his second two-bagger for the only Fort Wayne run.

Rascon tossed three shutout innings and tallied five punchouts in his first start this year, while Bergert allowed just one earned run in two innings of relief.

Flamethrower José Geraldo and righty Adam Smith teamed up to shutout the Captains over the final three innings.

A crowd of 4,341 flocked to Parkview Field to take advantage of the unseasonably warm weather.
