HOUSTON - U.S. Soccer announced earlier today that the 2023 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup final between Houston Dynamo FC and Inter Miami CF will kick off at 7:30 p.m. CT on Wednesday, Sept. 27 at DRV PNK Stadium in Florida.
The Dynamo, who won the U.S. Open Cup title in 2018, reached this year's final after defeating Real Salt Lake 3-1 in extra time at Shell Energy Stadium on Aug. 23. Captain Héctor Herrera opened scoring in first-half stoppage time, while Panamanian international Adalberto "Coco" Carrasquilla and midfielder Luís Caicedo both found the back of the net in extra time.
Houston is having a resurgent season, currently sitting inside the MLS playoff line in fifth in the Western Conference. Along with reaching the U.S. Open Cup Final and qualifying for the 2024 Concacaf Champions Cup, the Dynamo made a run to the quarterfinals of the inaugural Leagues Cup last month.
The team recently announced a U.S. Open Cup Finals Sweepstakes, which gives fans the opportunity to win two (2) tickets to the final. Fans can enter for a chance to win tickets HERE. The sweepstakes will run through 11:59 p.m. CT on September 12, 2023, and a winner will be selected on September 15. The winner is responsible for transportation to/from Miami and the stadium, as well as any other expenses incurred.
Fans nationwide can watch English language coverage of the match on Paramount+ and CBS Sports Network, as well as pre- and post-match coverage. Telemundo, a free, over-the-air TV channel, will provide Spanish-language coverage of the grand finale. Fans will also be able to watch the match on Universo and Peacock, which will both provide a 30-minute, Spanish-language pregame show. Spanish-language audio coverage will be available nationwide on Fútbol de Primera radio.
Houston returns to league play on Sept. 16 when they host St. Louis CITY SC for Kick Childhood Cancer Night at Shell Energy Stadium. For additional information, visit HoustonDynamoFC.com.
