Spokane Indians News Release

Spokane, WA-The Indians are pleased to announce that Ron Jackson and Spokane County have been named as the 2011 Rim of Honor recipients.

"We're thrilled to add two more great members of the Indians family into the Rim of Honor," said Senior Vice President Otto Klein."The Jackson Family and Spokane County both made important contributions to the success of our baseball community and the Indians franchise."

The team created the Rim of Honor in 2007 to honor individuals and organizations that have contributed positively to the Indians both on and off the field. There are four permanent members of the Rim of Honor, including Dwight Aden, Levi McCormack, Maury Wills, and Tommy Lasorda, with two non-players added to the Rim of Honor annually.

Ron Jackson played second base for the Spokane Indians in 1956 and batted .322. He hit four doubles in a game on two separate occasions, an Indians record that still stands to the day. Ron made his biggest impact on the baseball community by coaching America Legion Baseball in Spokane for 23 years, from 1960 until 1983, and as a recreational youth baseball coach until the late 1990's.

Spokane County, as the owner of Avista Stadium, has worked hard to preserve and improve one of the finest Minor League Baseball stadiums in the country. Improvements under Spokane County include the addition of a new press box, skyboxes, the Banner Bank Diamond Club, and numerous other stadium improvements.

"Spokane County has been an amazing steward of the best stadium in the Northwest," said Brett Sports Managing Partner Bobby Brett. "We've been fortunate to work with an organization that takes such great pride in their city."

The 2011 Rim of Honor recipients will be honored in a special ceremony before tonight's 6:30 p.m. game against Salem-Keizer.

The Indians are home again tomorrow night for game three of a five game series with the Salem- Keizer Volcanoes. Great seats are still available for tomorrow afternoon's Father's Day Game & Prostate Cancer Awareness presented by Good Neighbor Pharmacy and KXLY Newsradio 920.
