
2011 Hurricanes Training Camp Presented by Atb Financial Underway

Lethbridge, AB - 2011 Hurricanes Training Camp fired up on Wednesday from the Adams Ice Centre (9th Avenue and 13th St. North). 62 participants reported to camp including 15 returning players from the Canes 2010-11 lineup. Following registration, the 95 and 96 born players took to the ice for the first on ice sessions of the week. Some notables taking in their first WHL Camp included Canes 3rd and 5th overall draft picks in 2011 - Ryan Pilon and Reid Duke. Pilon weighed in at an impressive 6'2 - 195 lbs. and showed some of the skill that made him an All State All Canadian along with Duke this past summer. The 95 & 96-born Team A and Team B will begin scrimmages tomorrow with a pair of games (9:30AM, 3:00PM) - Team C made up of all the veterans will hold a practice at 12 Noon. Fans are welcome to attend the on ice sessions - please find attached lineup for days 1 & 2. At this time the Hurricanes are proud to thank ATB Financial as the official sponsor of the 2011 Lethbridge Hurricanes Training Camp. Alberta Treasury Branch will also be the Canes official sponsor for the Hurricanes 2011 Skills Competition and a Hurricanes Minor Hockey Clinic in the 2011-12 Season.

Scrimmages will begin on Thursday before the players are divided into three teams of rookies and veterans for the weekend inter squad games with a wrap up on Sunday morning with a Championship game. Fans are encouraged to attend camp to get their first look at the 2010-11 Hurricanes - On Saturday and Sunday, volunteers from the Lethbridge United Way will be on hand to take donations upon entry for this worthwhile cause.
