HOLLY SPRINGS, N.C. - Two more Coastal Plain League records have fallen, as the 2011 teams have combined to break the league record for most RBIs and most runs scored in a single season Friday night.
In 2007, the CPL finished the summer season with 3,326 RBIs and 3,842 runs scored, records that have stood tall up until now. With four days left in the 2011 regular season, the CPL has broken both records with 3,347 RBIs and 3,854 runs scored. All 15 teams factored in with at least 115 RBIs and 140 runs scored each, led by the Edenton Steamers in both categories, who have accounted for 294 RBIs and 337 runs scored thus far in 2011.
