Arkansas Travelers News Release
Frisco, TX - The Arkansas Travelers fell to the Frisco RoughRiders by the score of 9-5 on Tuesday night at Dr. Pepper Ballpark.
Frisco utilized five first inning runs to jump on top and never looked back.
Arkansas scored four of the next five runs in the ballgame to cut its deficit to 6-4, but Frisco capitalized on sloppy Travs pitching and defense late in the game to add insurance runs and put the game away.
RHP Michael Brady (L, 3-4) allowed five runs on seven hits in the first inning, the most runs a Travs opponent has scored in the first inning this season. Brady settled in and worked back-to-back scoreless frames in the second and third, but surrendered a run in the fourth to put Frisco up 6-2. In total, Brady worked the four innings and allowed six runs on 10 hits with two walks and four strikeouts.
RoughRiders starter LHP Chad Bell (W, 3-9) also surrendered 10 hits over five innings of work. Bell allowed four runs with a walk and two strikeouts.
With the Travs down 6-2 in the fifth, RF Blake Gailen launched a two-run home run to right, his fourth with Arkansas, to cut the deficit to 6-4. The two run Frisco lead was the closest the Travs came to climbing back. Gailen finished with three RBIs and now has 16 with the Travs in 23 games.
C Raywilly Gomez left the game with a head injury in the second, and C Anthony Bemboom went 3-for-4 with a run coming off the bench. 1B Wade Hinkle also finished 3-for-4 with an RBI and a hit-by-pitch.
CF Jared Mitchell and SS Eric Stamets both had two hits apiece for Arkansas.
RHP Austin Adams worked 1.1 hittless frames for the Travs with three strikeouts.
LHP Scott Snodgress surrendered two unearned runs in his second appearance with Arkansas.
Eight of the nine players in both lineups had at least one hit.
Arkansas left 12 runners on base.
The Travs outhit the RoughRiders 14 to 12.
With the loss, Arkansas finished the roadtrip 2-4 and fell to 41-40 overall this season. The Travs will head back to North Little Rock to begin a six-game homestand. Arkansas and Midland will do battle for three beginning Wednesday, then Frisco will come to town for three beginning Saturday.
