SUNDAY: The TinCaps saw a 3-1 lead slip away in a 5-4 setback to the Lugnuts. Fort Wayne was powered early by a Jack Suwinski solo home run and a 2-run shot from Esteury Ruiz in the first as well. But the 'Caps didn't score again until the eighth when Suwinski hit an RBI double.

ON THIS DAY: In 1999, Tony Gwynn recorded his 3,000th career hit with the Padres against the Expos at Olympic Stadium in Montreal. "Mr. Padre" played in an exhibition game in Fort Wayne against the Wizards at Memorial Stadium in 1999. Though he was on the DL, Gwynn also came to the Summit City with San Diego in 2001. Gwynn finished his 20-year MLB career with a .338 batting average and .388 on-base percentage. He had 3,141 hits, was a 15-time All-Star, 8-time NL batting champ, 5-time Gold Glove winner, and twice led the Pads to the World Series.

PATINO'S PROMISE: Among MWL pitchers with 60+ IP, Luis Patiño ranks... 1st in FIP (2.51), 2nd in HR/9 (0.15), 3rd in Swinging Strike % (16%), 5th in K% (28%), 7th in xFIP (3.03), 9th in WHIP (1.08), 10th in ERA (2.49), 12th in K/9 (10.13), 12th in AVG (.221), and 14th in K/9 (4.06). Patiño is the 2nd youngest pitcher in the league - only senior to fellow 18-year-old Jairo Solis of Quad Cities (Astros).

260 TO THE SHOW: The Padres called up 2016 TinCaps right-handed reliever Trey Wingenter from Triple-A El Paso Sunday. Wingenter pitched in 8 games for the 'Caps in May of 2016, posting a 0.82 ERA across 11 innings with 14 strikeouts. San Diego has also announced that righty Brett Kennedy will be called up to start on Wednesday @ Milwaukee to make his MLB debut as well. Kennedy made 6 starts for the TinCaps in April and May of 2016. He logged a 2.54 ERA with 38 Ks in 28.1 IP. Wingenter and Kennedy will raise the count of former Fort Wayne players to reach the majors to 169, including 11 debuting this year. See the next page for list.

ROSARIO ON THE RISE: Jeisson Rosario had a 12-game on-base streak end Sunday. Nevertheless, the 18-year-old who slashed .269/.381/.322 in the first half, is at is at .289/.378/.400 in 37 games since the All-Star break.

RUIZ ROCKING: Esteury Ruiz leads the TinCaps in doubles (18), home runs (11), RBIs (47), total bases (151), stolen bases (37), slugging (.415) and OPS (.736).

SUWI 3: Friday was the first time in 82 games this season that Jack Suwinski batted 3rd. In 125 games last year he hit 3rd once. Suwinski is in the 3-hole again today for the 4th consecutive game. He's hit safely in 6 consecutive games, during which he's 9-for-22 (.409) with 5 doubles, 2 homers, and 6 RBIs.

HEATING UP: Gabriel Arias is on a career-best 15-game on-base streak. Going back to July 19, the 18-year-old from Venezuela is slashing .296/.387/.463 with 3 doubles, 2 homers, 7 RBIs, a stolen base, and 8 walks.

LEAGUE LEADERS: Osvaldo Hernandez has the MWL's lowest ERA (1.92).... Aaron Leasher ranks 8th in ERA (3.32)... Jeisson Rosario is 7th in runs (66), 8th in OBP (.380), and 8th in walks (55) ... Esteury Ruiz is 4th in stolen bases (37)... Robbie Podorsky is 9th in SB (23).

IN CONTROL: TinCaps pitchers have walked the fewest batters in the Midwest League this season - only 3.0 BB/9. Fort Wayne also has the best ratio of strikeouts to walks (3.09/1).

HOME SWEET HOME: The TinCaps are 20-33 (.377) on the road this season compared to 31-27 (.534) at Parkview Field. At home, the team is batting .260 and averaging 4.6 runs/game. On the road, the team is batting .223 with 3.7 R/G.
