Senators Blanked for Third Straight Game

The Portland Sea Dogs blanked the Harrisburg Senators 1-0 Tuesday night at Hadlock Field. The Senators have been shutout in three straight games for the second time this season.

Portland scored the only run of the game in the bottom of the first on back-to-back doubles by Danny Mars and Michael Chavis against Senators starter Jaron Long.

Long (3-7) went five innings and allowed the lone run on four hits while striking out four and walking two. Austen Williams and Dakota Bacus combined to finish the game with three shutout innings while striking out seven over those frames.

Portland starting pitcher Mike Shawaryn (5-8) worked seven shutout innings, holding the Senators to five hits and two walks.

After Travis Lakins pitched a scoreless eighth, Trevor Kelley finished the game with a shutout ninth to seal the 1-0 victory and notch his fifth save.

Alec Keller finish with three hits to lead the Senators offense, his third three hit performance in the last five games. Hunter Jones doubled in the third to extend his hitting streak to nine games.

The Senators offense has been held scoreless for 27 consecutive innings.

The Senators play the final game of their seven-game road trip Wednesday afternoon. Sterling Sharp starts for the Senators against Sea Dogs starter Teddy Stankiewicz.
