Sea Dogs Take Series with a 6-2 Win at Harrisburg

Harrisburg, Pa. - Tate Matheny went 4-for-4, 2 RBI and Teddy Stankiewicz (W, 5-5) fired six strong innings, as the Portland Sea Dogs (20-35) defeated the Harrisburg Senators (27-27), 6-2 on Sunday afternoon at FNB Field. Portland took two of three in the series and finished their trip at 3-3.

Austin Rei gave the Sea Dogs a 1-0 lead by hitting the first pitch of the third inning over the right-field wall. In the fourth inning, Nick Lovullo reached on a throwing error by the third baseman to plate home two.

Stankiewicz earned his team-leading fifth win, working six innings on three hits, two runs, four walks and four strikeouts. The lone blemish was a two-run homer by Adam Brett Walker in the fourth.

Deiner Lopez delivered an RBI groundout in the sixth and Matheny nailed a two-run single in the eighth inning.

Portland's bullpen trio of Travis Lakins, Jordan Weems, and Josh Taylor closed out the win with three scoreless on one hit and fanned seven. Harrisburg's top five hitters went a combined 0-for-18.

The Sea Dogs are off on Monday and open up a six-game homestand on Tuesday night against the Bowie Baysox (Orioles affiliate) at Hadlock Field. Right-hander Mike Shawaryn (2-5, 3.67) faces righty Lucas Long (1-5, 4.61). Tuesday is a 7:00 PM First Pitch for the series opener.
