LAKEWOOD, NJ - Sixto Sanchez and Harold Arauz combined on a three-hit shutout as the BlueClaws topped Kannapolis 2-0 on Sunday afternoon at FirstEnergy Park.
The win puts the BlueClaws at 13-12 on the season and 6-2 against Kannapolis as the teams split their four-game series. The Intimidators head back home at 11-12 on the young season.
Lakewood has not allowed a run in their last 17 innings, winning each of the last two games.
The BlueClaws got on the board in the sixth on a Mickey Moniak SAC fly to score Jose Antequera . Antequera had reached on an error, so the run was unearned to Alec Hansen, who gave up just that one unearned run over his six innings of work.
Lakewood starter Sixto Sanchez, who did not factor in the decision, threw five scoreless innings. Sanchez struck out four without a walk.
Arauz came on in the sixth and went the last four innings, allowing one hit with one strikeout.
David Martinelli added an RBI double in the eighth for a 2-0 BlueClaws lead.
The BlueClaws head to Charleston, South Carolina to open a three-game series with the RiverDogs on Tuesday night. LHP Bailey Falter (0-1) starts the series opener for the BlueClaws opposite RHP Fercier Perez (0-1).
