Charleston RiverDogs News Release
CHARLESTON, S.C. - After a weeklong stint up North, the Charleston RiverDogs will try to bring back a little flavor of the Jersey Shore and take you to a galaxy far, far away, with some mayonnaise on the side, in their upcoming homestand from May 2-8 at The Joe.
The RiverDogs return home starting with a three-game series against the Lakewood BlueClaws from May 2-4, opening on Tuesday to celebrate everyone's favorite infomercials on "As Seen on TV" Night as they welcome their New Jersey league opponents. Charleston will next take on the Delmarva Shorebirds in a four-game tilt from May 5-8 with a weekend featuring a helicopter ball drop for cash prizes, a celebration of everything mayo, and a battle that will shake the entire galaxy.
*Tuesday, May 2, 7:05pm: Trendy Tuesday, "As Seen on TV": *From the Snuggie to the Shake Weight, Flex Seal to OxyClean, the RiverDogs will celebrate the wackiest and wildest "As Seen on TV" products past and present in the second edition of "Trendy Tuesdays" presented by Magic 107.3 and Z93 Jamz. Fans can put their hands together (don't worry the lights won't shut off) for a different trendy topic each Tuesday as the RiverDogs look at some of the latest fads to sweep the interwebs while poking fun at the hip happenings of yesteryear. Fans can also take advantage of "Take Me Out Tuesday" ticket specials from Harris Teeter featuring two tickets, dinner, and drinks for just $20 at the gate. Be sure to stop by the Landshark Shack to enter to win Jimmy Buffet tickets for his stop in Charleston on Thursday, May 11 at Volvo Car Stadium at Family Circus Tennis Center.
*Wednesday, May 3, 11:05am: Education Day: *It's Education Day at The Joe as the RiverDogs welcome students from around the Lowcountry. Approximately 5,000 local students and their teachers will play hooky for the day as the RiverDogs take on the Lakewood BlueClaws. It's sure to be a fun day at the park for kids and adults alike.
*Thursday, May 4, 7:05pm: Budweiser Thirsty Thursday/Jersey Shore Night: *Take time out of your packed GTL schedule (gym, tan, and laundry) to head to The Joe on Jersey Shore Night as the RiverDogs wrap up the series with their favorite Phillies prospects from the Shore. Ditch your "shirt before the shirt" and hit the Budweiser Ashley View Pub with your friends on a Budweiser Thirsty Thursday presented by 95SX featuring dollar beers and the scintillating tunes of DJ Natty Heavy who will be playing fist pumping club jams all night. Fans that turn 21 each Thirsty Thursday will receive free admission with proof of an ID and college students can secure tickets at the gate for just $5.
*Friday, May 5, 7:05pm: Cinco de Mayo/ Home Telecom Fireworks/Red Shirt Friday/ Boy Scout Night: *The RiverDogs celebrate one of the more controversial condiment choices on a night of everything mayonnaise. Fans can take part in mayo-related eating contests and condiment hairstyling demos; if sunscreen is not available, baseball patrons are encouraged to use mayonnaise as a suitable replacement (may not contain any actual SPF value). Stick around for a Home Telecom postgame fireworks extravaganza following the night's contest against Delmarva. Lowcountry Boy Scout troops will camp out on the field after the game. As part of a Red Shirt Friday, the RiverDogs will wear specialty red uniforms to honor our military in partnership with Apex Broadcasting and Live 5 News. Fans who wear red to the game get $1 off their ticket purchase at the gate with the option to donate that dollar to the Palmetto Military Support Group.
*Saturday, May 6, 6:05pm: Military Appreciation Night presented by Bank of America/Helicopter Ball Drop: *As part of Saturdays Live at The Joe presented by NASH FM and Fox 24, the RiverDogs bring you the Helicopter Ball Drop. The RiverDogs will give away a multitude of prizes to fans hoping that one of the thousands of bouncy balls falling from the sky will make them a winner in a postgame presentation. One lucky fan has the chance to walk away with a $4,000 grand prize if their ball lands in the dirt surrounding home plate. Should there not be a winner, the prize money will roll over to the next monthly bonanza with a chance for the pot to grow to up to $10,000 by season's end. There will be several nods to the Charleston military community throughout the night presented by Bank of America with Joint Base Charleston groups enjoying the sights and sounds of the game. Select RiverDogs players will also be available for pregame autographs each Saturday.
*Sunday, May 7, 5:05pm: Star Wars Day/MUSC Health Family Sundays in the Holy City: *Every Sunday is an MUSC Health Family Sunday in the Holy City as the RiverDogs don their specialty Holy City pinstriped uniforms on an evening of family fun. In partnership with Y102.5, the RiverDogs will "let the wookie win" and offer free parking while members of the MUSC Children's Health Kids Club (12 and under) gain free admission, eat free, play pregame catch on the field, and run the bases postgame. Join the members of the 501 st Legion as the colorful cast of Star Wars characters from across the galaxy converge on The Joe.
*Monday, May 8, 7:05pm: Nurses Night/Monday Dog Day/Rescue Night: *Bring your dog to the RiverDogs game presented by Apex Broadcasting as canine-friendly nights return for its second year as a featured weekly promotion. Man's best friends get in free and their humans can enjoy dollar hot dogs and beers courtesy of Busch Light. As part of Dog Day, it's Rescue Night in partnership with Lowcountry Paws Magazine with adorable pets on-site for adoption. It's also Nurse's night as Lowcountry nurses enjoy a night out with the crowd. As part of "Dogs with a Cause," the RiverDogs and Blackbaud, the local software and services leader for the global philanthropic community, will share the spotlight with a local nonprofit each Monday home game. This week, the club welcomes Be A Mentor, a nonprofit organization which provides targeted and sustainable in-school mentoring programs for K-12students in the Lowcountry.
