Greenville Drive News Release

Augusta, GA - The Greenville Drive took control of Sunday's game against the Augusta GreenJackets in the middle innings and never looked back, cruising to an 8-3 win and a victory of the four-game series.

The Drive (16-8) loaded the bases with nobody out in the fifth inning of a scoreless game, and they plated the first run when Stephen Woods (1-2) uncorked a wild pitch to plate Roldani Baldwin, who drew a walk. A fielder's choice groundout by Carlos Tovar plated another run, and a passed ball made the score 3-0.

That big inning propelled Logan Boyd (4-0) to victory, as he allowed just one run over six innings. The only run he allowed was a solo homer to Sandro Fabian in the sixth.

A four-run seventh gave the Drive even more cushion. Tovar was credited with a steal of home in the big inning, and after a wild pitch made the score 5-1, Baldwin smacked a two-run double to extend the lead further.

Ryan Scott tripled to begin the ninth inning for the Drive, and he came home on yet another wild pitch from the GreenJackets (10-14).

A Jacob Heyward two-run double in the bottom of the ninth scored Augusta's final two runs of the day.

Yoan Aybar and Mitchell Gunsolus collected two hits apiece for Greenville.

Following an off day on Monday, the Drive will return to Fluor Field on Tuesday night to begin a three-game series with the Asheville Tourists, an affiliate of the Colorado Rockies. First pitch will be delivered at 7:05 by Drive left-hander Robby Sexton (0-1, 3.68), and the Tourists will counter with right-hander Bryan Baker (0-1, 2.92).
