Fort Wayne Fusion News Release

With the 2007 af2 season at the half-way point, the Fort Wayne Fusion is looking forward to the second half of the season with their sights set on the playoffs. With 4 home games left and the Fusion only 2 games back from the Midwest Division lead, the team spent the bye week nursing their injured players back to health and planning their charge back up the standings.

As Northeast Indiana's professional football team, the Fusion would like all the youngsters in the Fort Wayne area to come out and become fans of their new local team, and would like to invite them to do so "on the house." The Fusion has teamed up with a number of local partners - such as Comcast, Rock 104, the Fort Wayne Police Department, the Fort Wayne Fire Department and the United Way - to provide tickets to football fans of all ages.

Here's what the Fusion has coming up in the second half of their inaugural season:

On Saturday, May 26th the Fusion is hosting "Youth Football Night" at Memorial Coliseum. The majority of local youth football players, from flag football through high school, have been given an opportunity to receive complimentary tickets when the Fusion takes on the Tennessee Valley Vipers at 7:00pm on Saturday, courtesy of Comcast and Rock 104. Any youth football players who wear their team's jersey will receive a free ticket at the box office the day of the game. Teams are encouraged to wear their colors and show their pride as prizes will be given away all night to the schools with the most spirited representation.

The Fusion's home game on Friday, June 8th versus the Quad City Steamwheelers is being billed as "Report Card Night." All Fort Wayne students who receive a single "A" on their final report card of the school year will receive FREE admission to the game. Simply bring your report card to the box office and get your FREE ticket for Friday, June 8th. Kickoff is set for 7:30pm. The Fusion, in conjunction with the FWPD, strongly supports the local schools and will kickoff their joint in-school program for the fall semester. Plus, at halftime, the Fusion will feature the 1st Annual "Red vs. Blue Tug-of-War" between the Fort Wayne Fire and Police Departments. Don't miss what's sure to be a rousing battle between these two proud services!

The Cincinnati Jungle Kats come to Memorial Coliseum on Saturday, June 30th and members of Reactor's Power Pack Kids Club get the perks on this night. All Kids Club members get into the game for FREE, plus they are able to use their 2007 "Buddy Ticket" to bring one friend under the age of 18 to the game as their personal guest. (Kids Club season ticket holders will receive 2 passes.) The first 2,000 fans through the doors receive an official 2007 Fusion team photo. On-field contests this night will feature area youth and the prizes will be provided by the Power Pack Kids Club partners and youth-directed sponsors.

The 2007 home finale is Saturday, July 7th, and the Fusion hosts the currently unbeaten and top-ranked Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Pioneers, who boast a record of 7-0. The Pioneers will be entering Fort Wayne on what the Fusion is hoping will be a great regular season finale. While this game is not being directed towards the youth of Fort Wayne it will be a special night for many involved. The Fusion will host "Salute to Heroes" night, and all military personnel will be admitted FREE to the game simply by wearing their uniform or showing their military identification. The Fusion is also proud to host a very special event: your future local heroes will be sworn in at the U.S. Military Swear-In Ceremony, which will be conducted on the field at halftime. There will also be a special appearance by Jim Crager of the band Linchpin, who will perform an acoustic version of his hit "American Soldier" prior to the ceremony.

The Fusion is also continuing their partnership with the United Way of Allen County, providing tickets to their partner agencies to bring the action and excitement of Arena Football to everyone in the Fort Wayne area. Section 209 is the United Way Section at all Fusion home games, and different groups come to cheer on the hometown Fusion at each game.

Coming up in June and July, the Fusion has numerous off-field events and appearances planned, beginning with this Friday's FWFD "Missing and Exploited Children Safety Day," which will be taking place at the Southtown Mall Menard's. Reactor will be on hand, along with Fusion players and members of The Energy Dance Team.

The Fusion is partnering up with "Thin & Healthy's Total Solution" by Contours Express to host the 1st Annual Fusion Women's Camp, which will be held on Thursday, June 28th, with 2 90-minute sessions: 1:00pm and 3:00pm. Women can take part in an authentic Arena Football practice, and learn to do what the players do, including Offense, Defense, Special Teams and more!

The Fusion is also in the planning stages of a mini-golf outing, which will be open to members of the Kids Club and fans of all ages. More information on this and other upcoming events will be available when dates are confirmed in the coming weeks.
